E-Mail Me!

My Stuff

I recently upgraded to a

Blackberry 8700g.

Email, cellphone, web

access, and PDA all-in-one.

I love Canon digicams.

I had an S330, then an S230,

now an SD400.  They're solidly

made, they take great pictures,

and they're ultra-portable.

I've gone back to the dark

side.  I once again have an iPod.

This time it's a 60gb iPod Photo.

The Dell Latitude D620

is my current work laptop.

It's a cleanly designed

Centrino Duo machine with

amazing battery

life and a nice screen.

My home laptop is a

15" Apple MacBook Pro

dual-booting both Mac OS X

and Windows XP.  Hooray for

Boot Camp!

I recently upgraded to a 20"

Dell 2001fp LCD.  It has great

image quality, and convenient

USB ports on the side.

My current PC is

a P4 system based on an Intel

D915GAG motherboard in an Antec

Sonata II case.  200gb Seagate

SATA hard drive, nVidia GeForce

6600GT video card, SB Live 5.1,

and NEC DVD-RW drive.

Just like with digicams,

I like Canon inkjet printers. My

i860 is quiet, fast, and produces

first-class color prints.

Not much to say here.

If you're an aviation enthusiast

and you have a fast PC,

go buy FS2004 now.

If you get hooked on

flight sims like I did, you'll want

a good flight controller.  The

CH Products Flight Sim Yoke USB

is probably the best all-around

flight controller out there.

It ain't cheap, though....

One of my favorite time-killers lately has been reading baseball blogs. One of the more interesting ones is Bat-Girl's Twins blog. Take note of the picture below, then go have a read.

Well, I guess that answers that question....

This is the prize I got in my bag (what the hell happened to boxes???) of Cracker Jacks at last night's Mariners' game. It commemorates Babe Ruth pointing to a stadium vendor and ordering a hot dog with mustard and relish before stepping into the batter's box at the 1936 World Series.

After watching the ESPY Awards (yes, I know, shoot me now), I started thinking about the athletes of my lifetime who I've enjoyed the most. I won't limit the list to athletes I've seen in person, since I don't go to all that many sporting events.

  • George Brett - My favorite baseball player growing up. He played the game "the way it was supposed to be played." A smooth left-handed swing, and surprisingly good glove work at third base, GB was the greatest player in Kansas City Royals history, and for my money, the greatest third baseman ever.
  • Michael Jordan - It was trendy to be a fan of #23, but I enjoyed the fact that if you watched him play, you would see something amazing every game. He would either do something phenomenally athletic, or something beautifully simple, but he was always out to win. I especially remember the 1997 NBA Finals Game 6 that Jordan played with the flu, and beat Utah with a 3 pointer.
  • Lance Armstrong - I can't think of any other athlete who knows his sport inside and out like Lance does. The 2003 Tour de France was the greatest sporting event I have ever seen (on television). I watched every day, every crash, every struggle. And for my money, Lance's Nike commercials are better than any of Michael Jordan's commercials.

We have a vending machine in our new building. It's the coolest thing since.... since... hmm... it's very cool.

I had to make the rounds of our 5 clinics today, on one of the busiest road travel days of the year. There were thousands of people trying to get back from the coast to the Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia area, so traffic in Aberdeen was especially bad. As I puttered along in 1st gear, I took note of several interesting things along the way....

  • A Jaguar XJS with a "Clergy" tag in the window. If you're a clergyman, shouldn't you be driving a more reasonable car? How about a nice Corolla?
  • A big dead/sleeping dog. If he was sleeping, he had two legs sticking out into traffic. It looked more like someone hit him/her, then drug the body off to the side of the road and left it beside a mailbox. Hmm...
  • A one-armed man pruning trees at a motel. Just be very, very careful.
  • Some sort of two-masted sailing ship (a galleon?) sailing around in Grays Harbor. The scene was ruined by some moron on a jet ski zipping around the ship in tight circles....

It pays to be attentive, I think.
