E-Mail Me!
My Stuff

I
recently upgraded to a
Blackberry 8700g.
Email, cellphone, web
access, and PDA all-in-one.

I
love Canon digicams.
I had an S330, then an S230,
now an SD400. They're solidly
made, they take great pictures,
and they're ultra-portable.

I've gone back to the
dark
side. I once
again have an iPod.
This time it's a 60gb
iPod Photo.

The
Dell Latitude D620
is my current work laptop.
It's a cleanly designed
Centrino Duo machine with
amazing battery
life and a nice screen.

My home laptop is a
15" Apple MacBook Pro
dual-booting both Mac OS X
and Windows XP. Hooray for
Boot Camp!

I recently upgraded to
a 20"
Dell 2001fp LCD.
It has great
image quality, and
convenient
USB ports on the side.

My current
PC is
a P4 system based on an Intel
D915GAG motherboard in an Antec
Sonata II case. 200gb Seagate
SATA hard drive, nVidia GeForce
6600GT video card, SB Live 5.1,
and NEC DVD-RW drive.

Just
like with digicams,
I like Canon inkjet printers. My
i860 is quiet, fast, and produces
first-class color prints.

Not
much to say here.
If you're an aviation enthusiast
and you have a fast PC,
go buy FS2004 now.

If
you get hooked on
flight sims like I did, you'll want
a good flight controller. The
CH Products Flight Sim Yoke USB
is probably the best all-around
flight controller out there.
It ain't cheap, though....

This was printed on the plastic bag wrapped around a new Dell keyboard.

| Noseless Asian man update: He just went rushing past, wearing a big poofy down parka and a stocking cap. It's almost 50 degrees F outside, so I'm not sure why he's so heavily dressed. He also had a cup of coffee or hot chocolate or something. Gotta keep warm when the mercury dips below 60F. |
| About two or three times a week, I see a guy with no nose walking back and forth on the sidewalk outside my window. He just has a big wide piece of first aid tape where his nose is/was/should be. He's kind of short, and vaguely Asian looking, and quite often he is smoking and/or muttering to himself. Odd. |

I saw this in a discussion thread over at Slashdot.org, and I thought it was both hilarious and unusual. Unusual in that Mac folks can be a little thin-skinned and humorless. Anyway, here it is for your entertainment:
"For the past 7 years, every time there's been an article that mentions the price of an Apple computer, these people come out of the woodwork and go batsh!t trying to show us how frugal/industrious they can be without ever understanding the market dynamic.
Please, we all understand that you can build a "Most Excellent" PC with glowing neon lights and water cooling that SPECmarks the h3ll out of a dual processor G5 for $.75 Canadian and it will run Slackware and GiMP and MAME and dual boot into Windows XP Super Home edition and play Halo 7 and Duke Nuke 'em at the same time in separate windows because you're driving 18 LCDs with the Radeon super-nuclear video card that you can get at the local computer superhaus for $1.95 and two packs of bubblegum.
Mac users just don't care, Ok? We really, really, don't care."
God bless 'em.

| Somebody pinch me, the Mariners front office is making smart moves.... Richie Sexson, Adrian Beltre, and maybe more... They should probably contend for the AL West title in 2005. Now just get another starting pitcher, or maybe a shortstop....

I've always had an interest in flight, and in flight simulations, too. Although I haven't had as much time for it in the past few months, I used to spend a lot of time flying with Microsoft Flight Simulator (every version since 5.1), and reviewing scenery for Avsim.com.
This past week, I upgraded my PC--well, replaced it, really. I went from a P4 2.4ghz with an ATI Radeon 9800 to a P4 3.0ghz with an nVidia GeForce FX6600 GT. After reinstalling all my important programs, I fired up MS Flight Sim 2004, and set up a flight from Frankfurt to Munich in a Boeing 737-700. Not that I'm a pilot or anything, but it was interesting how quickly the feel of handling the plane came back to me. On my descent into MUC, I flew a great approach with a smooth landing. I was lined up at least 4 or 5 miles out, so there wasn't any bobbing and weaving while trying to get in position. Not too shabby... |
