My Stuff

I recently upgraded to a

Blackberry 8700g.

Email, cellphone, web

access, and PDA all-in-one.

I love Canon digicams.

I had an S330, then an S230,

now an SD400.  They're solidly

made, they take great pictures,

and they're ultra-portable.

I've gone back to the dark

side.  I once again have an iPod.

This time it's a 60gb iPod Photo.

The Dell Latitude D620

is my current work laptop.

It's a cleanly designed

Centrino Duo machine with

amazing battery

life and a nice screen.

My home laptop is a

15" Apple MacBook Pro

dual-booting both Mac OS X

and Windows XP.  Hooray for

Boot Camp!

I recently upgraded to a 20"

Dell 2001fp LCD.  It has great

image quality, and convenient

USB ports on the side.

My current PC is

a P4 system based on an Intel

D915GAG motherboard in an Antec

Sonata II case.  200gb Seagate

SATA hard drive, nVidia GeForce

6600GT video card, SB Live 5.1,

and NEC DVD-RW drive.

Just like with digicams,

I like Canon inkjet printers. My

i860 is quiet, fast, and produces

first-class color prints.

Not much to say here.

If you're an aviation enthusiast

and you have a fast PC,

go buy FS2004 now.

If you get hooked on

flight sims like I did, you'll want

a good flight controller.  The

CH Products Flight Sim Yoke USB

is probably the best all-around

flight controller out there.

It ain't cheap, though....

After much deliberation, I've figured out part of my solo trip that starts next weekend. After the meeting in Chicago, I'll fly to London on Friday night. Saturday morning I have a flight from London to Poznan, Poland, arriving in the afternoon. I'm going to spend two nights there, then head to Gdansk for two or three nights, then head to Warsaw, from where I'll fly back to London on Saturday the 14th. I'm hoping to side-trip to Malbork and maybe Torun while there, but I'm trying to play it by ear as much as possible. That's hard for me, because I love to plan every little detail. Or at least obsess about it. Anyway, it's Poland!

Behold the Dell 2407FPW....

My next baseball card purchase was two boxes of 1990 Fleer. I couldn't remember if I had ever purchased any of these before, but they were dirt cheap - $6 for two boxes - so I figured why not. The run-down of the first pack is as follows:

Mark Eichhorn
Jim Gott
Edgar Martinez (Rookie Card? !!!)
Pedro Guerrero
Marty Barrett
Ozzie Guillen
Luis Quinones
Joe Hesketh
Alvin Davis
Jeff Brantley
Gary Pettis
Mike Marshall
Pete Harnisch
Larry Andersen
Storm Davis

I recently decided to slowly get back into baseball card collecting again, after not having bought any cards since 1990. After snooping around on eBay, I found several good deals on boxes of unopened packs from various years and various companies. I got my first box of cards today, and I'm slowly opening and perusing them. This first box is 2000 Topps Series 1, and here's the contents of my first pack:
Todd Zeile
Brian Hunter
Bruce Aven
Chuck Finley
Ricky Gutierrez
Dan Wilson
Todd Jones
Scott Williamson
Paul O'Neill
Bobby Higginson
1984 Batting Title - Tony Gwynn
Hank Aaron Reprint - 1968
Checklist

Whee. This is fun. And either my hands are bigger, or cards have gotten smaller. I'm guessing it's the former....

This is the funniest thing I've seen all day, Allah be praised! View it on the screen of your laptop the next time you go through airport security!

My latest entertainment infatuation is the BBC series Life on Mars. It's about an English detective who gets hit by a car, and in his coma, he is transported to 1973. The show is a sort of anti-CSI, with no fancy technology used to solve crimes. It's sort of old-fashioned, but very compelling. I snagged all eight episodes from the first season online, and it was darn good stuff.
