E-Mail Me!

My Stuff

I recently upgraded to a

Blackberry 8700g.

Email, cellphone, web

access, and PDA all-in-one.

I love Canon digicams.

I had an S330, then an S230,

now an SD400.  They're solidly

made, they take great pictures,

and they're ultra-portable.

I've gone back to the dark

side.  I once again have an iPod.

This time it's a 60gb iPod Photo.

The Dell Latitude D620

is my current work laptop.

It's a cleanly designed

Centrino Duo machine with

amazing battery

life and a nice screen.

My home laptop is a

15" Apple MacBook Pro

dual-booting both Mac OS X

and Windows XP.  Hooray for

Boot Camp!

I recently upgraded to a 20"

Dell 2001fp LCD.  It has great

image quality, and convenient

USB ports on the side.

My current PC is

a P4 system based on an Intel

D915GAG motherboard in an Antec

Sonata II case.  200gb Seagate

SATA hard drive, nVidia GeForce

6600GT video card, SB Live 5.1,

and NEC DVD-RW drive.

Just like with digicams,

I like Canon inkjet printers. My

i860 is quiet, fast, and produces

first-class color prints.

Not much to say here.

If you're an aviation enthusiast

and you have a fast PC,

go buy FS2004 now.

If you get hooked on

flight sims like I did, you'll want

a good flight controller.  The

CH Products Flight Sim Yoke USB

is probably the best all-around

flight controller out there.

It ain't cheap, though....

Here's a lovely going-away gift that a co-worker gave me. It's significant because she's crazy about the color orange; she clearly gave me something of great value to her.

Here's a funny conversation I had with a co-worker earlier this morning, after she found out I'm leaving:

[8:28 AM] XXXXXX: where are you going?
[8:30 AM] Craig: I'm opening a tire factory... i'm going to make tires for golf carts....
[8:32 AM] XXXXXX: what? are you pulling my leg
[8:32 AM] Craig: no... there's a huge market for golf cart tires...i'm going to import rubber from brazil, and build a foundry in my garage....
[8:34 AM] XXXXXX: do yo uneed any RN's to run it?
[8:34 AM] Craig: can you wear a big apron and stir a vat of molten rubber?
[8:36 AM] XXXXXX: absolutley!
[8:39 AM] Craig: cool... i'll keep you in mind

I resigned from my job at Western Washington Oncology today. It had been less and less fun everyday, and I was always so relieved to leave the building at the end of each day. There was less and less emphasis on good patient care, and more emphasis on cost cutting. There have to be better opportunities out there, and I'm in a financial position to leave, so I am. It was fun while it lasted, but it's best to leave on my own terms.

In various cities around the world, you can find tile mosaics of Space Invaders aliens attached to various buildings and monuments. Some secretive dude started the trend, and other people have helped him propagate it to other cities. I saw several of them in Paris last year, and one in Tokyo. It's a pretty interesting little project, really. The website is here.

Wasn't "The Ultimate Road Warrior" a pro wrestler from the 1980's?

When we move to our new house, my 10-year old ratty computer chair is going to have to go away. It has ripped upholstery, gouges in the plastic armrests, and it makes funny creaking noises when I shift my weight in it. I think I'm going to shop for the same chair I currently have at work, a Skye by Kimball Office. It adjusts 80 million different ways, it's large enough to be comfortable, and it looks nice. Sort of a smarter Aeron....

Last night we made a "reservation" for the Wentworth on Lot 709. The clock is ticking for us to go ahead and commit the rest of the earnest money. We have an appointment with a mortgage broker this weekend. The house will be completed in 83 more days....

After almost 8 years on our current 1080 square foot home, it looks like we're about to upgrade. We looked at various homes in different parts of Olympia and Lacey, and we're leaning towards a home in The Greens at Edgewater, a development in the Hawks Prairie area. The exact model we're looking at is a Wentworth, which I'm sure we won't remember 6 months after moving in. It's a big, new house, and those are two characteristics we're not familiar with when it comes to houses. Nevertheless, we're excited about the layout, the materials, the spaces, and the location. The exact home we're looking at will be completed in 85 days, so there is still time to pick a paint color, hardwood flooring, tile colors, etc. This could turn out to be very, very exciting.

I was somewhat interested in the PS3 when I heard that the Gran Turismo HD demo featured the Eiger Nordwand course, since we just came back from there (Switzerland) last month. Still, the $599 pricetag seemed too high, even though you can do lots of cool stuff with the PS3. This weekend, Gamestop had a special where they give you $100 off if you trade in your PS2. Sign me up! I boxed up my PS2, took it down there, and came home with a PS3. I'm downloading Yellow Dog Linux to install on it, as well as the GT HD demo.... Pretty cool....

Uh, no, that's not what happened....
